Bordeaux agree deal to sign Thelin

Girondins Bordeaux have reached a "verbal agreement" with Malmo FF to buy Sweden striker Isaac Kiese Thelin, the Swedish champions announced on Tuesday.
"After discussions between the two clubs, Malmo FF have decided to accept a bid from FC Girondins de Bordeaux for Isaac Kiese Thelin," the Swedish club said in a statement.
"The clubs have made a verbal agreement and Isaac Kiese Thelin will meet FC Girondins de Bordeaux tomorrow."
The 22-year-old forward shot to prominence during a six-month spell at Malmo, who he joined from Norrkoping last year.
He scored five goals in 14 games as Malmo won the league title and played a key role as they became the first Swedish team to reach Champions League group stage in 14 years.
Kiese Thelin was rewarded with a call-up to Erik Hamren's Sweden squad, making his debut against Montenegro in November.
Malmo did not give any details of the transfer fee or length of contract.

Tanzania’s attorney general, energy minister, housing and settlement development minister, energy permanent secretary and at least two parliamentarians are among political figures, who have been linked to the disappearance of $122 million, which was illegally transferred as payments to a private energy firm, Pan Africa Power. All of the implicated politicians have denied any wrongdoing in the matter.

Maasai Breathe Sigh of Relief After President Vows Never to Evict Them

PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete has pledged never to evict the Masai people after an international outcry against plans to turn their ancestral land into a commercial hunting ground for Arab royalty.
Last week the Guardian revealed claims by Masai activists that the government had reintroduced plans to forcibly relocate 40,000 pastoralists to make way for a luxury hunting and safari company based in the United Arab Emirates. But, as an online campaign gathered steam, President Jakaya Kikwete tweeted:

US doctor takes on Ebola with faith, American tech

In two layers of protective gear in humid equatorial heat, the doctor slowly picks his way through the packed ETU – Ebola Treatment Unit -- in one of the main hospitals in Monrovia, Liberia. It’s so full of patients that many are having to lie on the floor. The doctor treads warily: If he trips, his protective suit might rip, exposing him to the deadly virus.
“This thing is out of control; it could potentially de-populate huge sections of the country,” the American doctor, who asked not to be named, told FoxNews.com hours later. “All of the ETUs are at or beyond capacity.”
With the infectious disease ravaging Liberia’s capital, nurses and doctors are in short supply. The World Health Organization says more than 170 have died from the disease, while those who continue the battle face infected facilities and patients who hide their symptoms.
“[Victims] are in denial,” a West African hygienist working at the same facility, JFK Hospital, said. “People ask us to help them, they say they have a cold, they say it’s not necessary to wear special clothing, they deny it is Ebola. We have lost our families, our friends. They are infecting our nurses, our doctors – they are all gone.”

Ukraine Says Russian Forces Lead Major New Offensive in East

9 year old kills shooting instructor in Uzi mishap

The tragedy occurred Monday at the Last Stop gun range in the western US state of Arizona, where the girl had been taken by her parents for firearms lesson, US news reports said/AFP
WASHINGTON, August 27- A nine year old girl learning to fire an Uzi submachine gun was unable to control the weapon, accidentally killing her instructor, news reports said Wednesday.
The tragedy occurred Monday at the Last Stop gun range in the western US state of Arizona, where the girl had been taken by her parents for firearms lesson, US news reports said.
Officials said the girl had successfully managed to control the weapon in the “single shot” mode.
But when shooting instructor Charles Vacca, 39, switched the Uzi into the fully automatic setting, the force of the gunfire caused the weapon to rebound upward, and an errant bullet fired by the child struck him in the head.
Vacca died in hospital a short time later, officials said.
