Baudry ametoa mafunzo hayo katika ukumbi wa Nkurumah ikiwa ni semina maalum kwa wanafunzi wa shule za sekondari hapa nchini ambao wameshiriki kwenye shindano kubwa la kuandika Insha na kuchora picha kuhusiana na masuala ya Anga. Baudry mwenye umri wa miaka 66 ni mzaliwa wa Cameroon.

Chipolopolo to face Tanzania in AFCON preps

THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is lining up an international friendly match against Tanzania on December 23 to gauge the readiness of the Chipolopolo before launching the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title defence in South Africa next year.

Zambia, eager to retain the coveted trophy at the 2013 AFCON finals, will undergo an intensive training programme and the team’s preparedness will be tested in four tough friendly games.

With January 12 already set aside for a high-profile match against Norway at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, the Chipolopolo will kick-off their pre-AFCON friendlies against the East African side at a venue to be named later after consultations are concluded.

According to FAZ sources, the Chipolopolo will also play two more preparatory games whose opponents are yet to be confirmed before giving local fans a mouth-watering farewell match against Norway in January.

The source also said that the association was determined to ensure the African champions were battle-ready for the 2013 AFCON finals and that the match against Tanzania would help the team especially that the Taifa Stars have played so many times with Zambia’s AFCON opponents, Ethiopia.

FAZ assured the Zambians that the Chipolopolo would be ready for the opening January 21 clash against 1962 winners, Ethiopia in this Group C match set for Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

The association appealed to the local football enthusiasts to rally behind the team and turn up in numbers to cheer the squad in South Africa from the first match.

The source said the Nelson Mandela Challenge against South Africa last Wednesday which the Chipolopolo won courtesy of a Collins Mbesuma strike, gave coach Herve Renard pointer of his AFCON squad.

From the 2012 AFCON winning squad only star midfielder, Rainford Kalaba missed the Bafana Bafana clash due to injury.

The Chipolopolo medical team has already tailored a programme for Kalaba to help him heal completely with FAZ stressing that the nimble-footed player will not be rushed into action until he reaches his maximum potential.

However, the Chipolopolo’s preliminary preparations will be a 10-day intensive training camp specifically for the local-based players, giving them an opportunity to stake their claim for a place in the AFCON squad.

After the initial India trip fell through, FAZ are now hoping to send the squad to Aspire Academy in Qatar with Milpark in South Africa being the other alternative if the journey to the Gulf flops.

On the facilities allocated to Zambia during the AFCON in Nelspruit, the source said the four-star Protea Hotel, complete with all necessary training facilities was a fantastic place for the Chipolopolo to plot their rise to the top again.

The Chipolopolo will be training at Ka Nyamazane Stadium within Nelspruit. Zambia is the top seed of Group C which also comprises two-time winners, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso.

Boyle's Olympic ceremony honoured

Danny Boyle's Olympic opening ceremony has been honoured at the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards.

The Oscar-winning director and his team got huge cheers when they picked up the Beyond Theatre award from gold medal-winning Team GB cyclist Victoria Pendleton.
"We hoped to prove that culture runs through all of us and binds us all together," Boyle said.
The awards, hosted by James Corden, were held at the Savoy Hotel on Sunday.
Picking up his award, Boyle urged the audience to lobby for the inclusion of arts subjects in the English Baccalaureate.
Other winners took the opportunity to speak out against theatre funding cuts.
Theatre passion Dame Judi Dench was honoured with the Moscow Art Theatre's Golden Seagull award for her contribution to world theatre.
The veteran stage and screen actress, who plays M in James Bond film Skyfall, said she loved making movies "but my absolute passion is the theatre".
Dame Judi will be seen on the stage in London next year in a new play, Peter and Alice, by Skyfall co-writer John Logan, opposite her Bond co-star Ben Wishaw, who plays Q.
The award for best new play went to Nick Payne's Constellations, which has just transferred to the West End from the Royal Court.

Starring Rafe Spall and Sally Hawkins, the story explores a couple's relationship in a series of alternative universes.
At 29, Payne is the youngest playwright to have received the award.
The best actor prize went to Simon Russell Beale for his portrayal of Stalin in the black comedy, Collaborators, at the National Theatre.
'Gloriously screwed up' Hattie Morahan took the best actress prize for her portrayal of trapped housewife, Nora, in Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House at the Young Vic.

She had been up against Australian actress Cate Blanchett for Big and Small, Dame Eileen Atkins for All That Fall and Laurie Metcalf for Long Day's Journey Into Night.
Morahan was presented with the award by Homeland star Damian Lewis.
The tearful actress thanked Ibsen for creating such a "gloriously screwed up heroine".
The prize for best musical went to Sweeney Todd, directed by Jonathan Kent and starring Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton, which transferred from the Chichester Festival to the West End.
The award was presented by rapper Tinie Tempah, who has tweeted about his love of Stephen Sondheim's blood-splattered musical.
Cuts protest Among the other guests at the event were Colin Firth, Sir Ian McKellen, Ruth Wilson, Bill Nighy and Ralph Fiennes.
Film and theatre director Stephen Daldry, the creative director of the Olympic ceremonies, was presented with a special award at the end of the evening by Stephen Fry.
Both Fry and Daldry were among those who spoke out against cuts in arts budgets.
Meanwhile, National Theatre artistic director Sir Nicholas Hytner, who won two awards - for best director and a special award for his leadership at the NT - said further cuts to theatre budgets made "no economic sense whatsoever".
He called on Culture Secretary Maria Miller to fund all theatres to the level enjoyed by the National Theatre in order to stimulate philanthropic giving.
"Philanthropy is not an alternative to public money - it is a consequence of public funding," he said.
