In a separate development, at least 13 people died when a flyover under construction collapsed late on Saturday in the south-eastern city of Chittagong, police said.
The authorities are investigating both accidents.
Anxious wait Initial reports said eight people had been killed in the factory fire, but the scale of the disaster became clear when rescue workers entered the building on Sunday.
The fire started on the ground floor - which was reportedly used as a warehouse - and quickly spread through the building.
Senior fire department official Mohammad Mahbub told the Associated Press news agency that the factory had no fire exit on the outside of the building.
"Had there been at least one emergency exit through outside the factory, the casualties would have been much lower," he said.
The factory owner denied the allegations that the building was unsafe to work in.
"It is a huge loss for my staff and my factory. This is the first time we have ever had a fire at one of my seven factories," Delwar Hossain told AFP.
Police and soldiers were deployed to keep the situation under control as thousands of anxious relatives of factory employees gathered at the scene.
"Where's my son?" cried Sabina Yasmine. She said she saw the body of her daughter-in-law, who died in the fire, but her son was missing, AP reports.

She expressed fury at the factory owners, who she blamed for the fire.

"We resumed our search this
morning and found the bodies lying on different floors of the factory
building," Brigadier General Abu Nayeem Mohammad Shahidullah of the
Dhaka fire brigade told AFP news agency.
Later reports said that 120 people had died, but the number
of fatalities was then lowered to at least 112. A number of people are
believed to be missing.The fire started on the ground floor - which was reportedly used as a warehouse - and quickly spread through the building.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (AP) — A bombing claimed by the Taliban
killed at least six people and wounded some 90 others at a Shiite
religious procession in northwestern Pakistan on Sunday, police said, as
the minority Muslim sect observes the annual Ashoura holiday.
Since Wednesday, at least 31 have been killed in bombings aimed at Pakistani Shiites and claimed by the Taliban, who espouse an extremist interpretation of Sunni Islam. Over 100 were wounded in the attacks during the run-up to the holiday, which commemorates the 7th century death of the Prophet Muhammad's grandson. The schism between Sunnis and Shiites dates back to that time.
Sunday's explosion went off as hundreds of Shiites were passing through the main intersection of the city of Dera Ismail Khan, police said, where food and water stalls were set up to serve the crowd. An initial investigation suggested a bomb was planted near a shop along the procession route.
"The bomb contained about eight kilograms of explosives and steel balls, and was detonated with a remote control device," city police chief Sohail Khalid said.
Several of injured are in serious condition, said Dr. Faridullah Mahsud, an official at the city's hospital, who added that three members of a paramilitary unit providing security for the procession were among the injured. Dr. Khalid Aziz, the top official at the hospital, put the death toll at six.
The Pakistani Taliban frequently attack Shiites, who they consider heretics. Ashoura ceremonies are a prime targets, since they draw large crowds that march in processions to mourn the martyred Imam Hussein. Early in the day, participants beat their chests in grief over Hussein's killing, while later some cut themselves to express their sorrow in blood.
Qais Abbas, a Shiite survivor, said that one of his relatives was in critical condition, but that he and others were moving the wounded to other hospitals that were better equipped.
"Here we are not getting proper care for them, there are not enough doctors or medicines," he said.
After the blast, thousands of Shiite mourners staged a sit-in at a nearby intersection, refusing to move unless assured quick and stern action against the perpetrators. The procession has now been attacked for a second consecutive day.
A similar bombing killed seven and injured 30 from the group a day earlier, and last week attacks on Ashoura observers took place elsewhere in the country. On Wednesday night, a Taliban suicide bomber struck a Shiite procession in Rawalpindi, a garrison city near the capital, Islamabad, killing 17. Earlier that same day, the Taliban set off two bombs outside a Shiite mosque in the southern city of Karachi, killing one person and wounding 15 others. Pakistani Taliban have claimed responsibility for all the attacks, with spokesman Ehasanullah Ehsan saying by telephone on Sunday that the group will not relent and "looks forward to more ahead."
Authorities have deployed thousands of additional police across the country to beef up security for the holy day. Mobile phone service has been shut down in all the major cities to prevent such bombings, which officials say often use cellular phones as remote detonators.

Wilaya alianzisha harambee ya kuchangisha fedha kwa kila mkazi aliyehudhuria
mkutano huo hali ambayo ilisaidia kupatikana kwa fedha taslimu Tsh 125,000 papo
hapo huku yeye mwenyewe akiwa wa kwanza kutoa mchango
wake.
Aliongeza kwa kuwaambia
wananchi hao katika kuimarisha vikundi hivyo, wanatakiwa wafanye jitihada za
kupata sare zitakazowatambulisha, filimbi na bunduki mbili ambazo zitatumiwa na
askari wa doria ambao watakuwa wamepata mafunzo ya Mgambo. Alisema katika suala
usajili wa bunduki hizo yeye atakuwa mstari wa mbele kupeleka maombi yao kwa
viongozi wa juu ili waweze kupitisha na hatimaye ziweze kutumika kwenye shughuli
ya ulinzi katika eneo lao.
Kwa
upande mwingine aliwataka mabalozi wa eneo hilo kutafuta askari watakaokuwa
waaminifu ili waweze kufanya kazi zao kwa uadilifu. Mbali na hilo aliwataka
viongozi hao kubuni miradi ya uzalishaji mali ambayo itakuwa moja ya chanzo cha
mapato ya malipo kwa askari hao badala ya kutegemea michango ya wananchi
pekee.
Muroto
alimalizia kwa kuwaomba wananchi wa eneo hilo kushirikiana na Jeshi la polisi
katika kutoa taarifa zinazohusu uhalifu, ambapo alitoa namba za simu za viongozi
wa Jeshi la Polisi mkoani hapa ili ziweze kusaidia kushirikiana kimawasiliano
katika suala hilo. Pia aliahidi kurudi tena katika eneo hilo pamoja na timu yake
kutoa elimu kwa askari watakaoteuliwa kabla hawajaanza kazi rasmi ili waweze
kujua misingi na mbinu mbalimbali za utendaji wa kazi hiyo na hilo ni moja ya
jukumu la Jeshi la Polisi kwa vikundi hivyo.
Awali Mwenyekiti wa
Mtaa wa Kitalu “D” Bw. John kihwele akifungua mkutano huo, alisema kwamba
vikundi vya ulinzi shirikishi vilikuwepo lakini kilichochangia vikundi hivyo
kuyeyuka ni ugumu wa wakazi hao kuchangia vikundi hivyo.
Alisema
pamoja na uwepo wa walinzi karibu kila nyumba lakini uwepo wa vikundi vya ulinzi
shirikishi ni wa umuhimu sana hasa katika kufanya doria za barabara hali ambayo
itasaidia kuimarika kwa ulinzi.
